Trochanteric Bursitis
What is Trochanteric Bursitis?
A common spot for bursitis is on the side of the hip. Here a large tendon passes over the bony bump on the side of the hip. The bony bump is called the Greater Trochanter. Inflammation in the bursa between the tendon and the greater trochanter is called Trochanteric Bursitis.
Symptoms of Trochanteric Bursitis
- Pain at the bump area
- Limping
- Stiffness in the hip joint
Causes of Trochanteric Bursitis
- Friction of the bursa
- A fall on the hips
Treatment for Trochanteric Bursitis
- Reducing their activities or changing the way they do their activities
- Physio-Therapy
- Anti-inflammatory medication or injection
- Surgery
