What is Finger Deformity?
Finger Deformity sometime also known as Swan neck Deformity, is a disease or injury that disturb the balance of the ligament and tendon of the finger causing it to be deform.
Symptoms of Finger Deformity
- Swan-like shap of the finger
Causes of Finger Deformity
- Inflammation from injury or disease
- Hyper-Extended PIP joint
- Flexed DIP joint
- Rheumatoid arthritis
Treatment for Finger Deformity
- Using a finger splint
- Strengthen and increase the flexiblity of your finger by exercising it
Surgery is needed when:
- Rheumatoid arthritis is the cause
- Tendon is severed
- Bone fragment is placed from its normal position
- Condition does not improve with splinting
