What is Finger Deformity?

Finger Deformity sometime also known as Swan neck Deformity, is a disease or injury that disturb the balance of the ligament and tendon of the finger causing it to be deform.


Symptoms of Finger Deformity

Causes of Finger Deformity

  • Inflammation from injury or disease
  • Hyper-Extended PIP joint
  • Flexed DIP joint
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Treatment for Finger Deformity

  • Using a finger splint
  • Strengthen and increase the flexiblity of your finger by exercising it

Surgery is needed when:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis is the cause
  • Tendon is severed
  • Bone fragment is placed from its normal position
  • Condition does not improve with splinting
