What is Muscle Cramp
A muscle cramp is a forced contract muscle that does not relax. When we use our muscles, we are able to control the muscle contracting and relaxing voluntarily. Sometime a muscle that involuntarily contracts is in a “spasm.” If the spasm is forceful and sustained then it becomes a cramp.
Muscle cramps can last anywhere for a long time. A cramp to reoccur multiple times until it goes away is very common. The cramp may involve a part of a muscle, the entire muscle, or several muscles that usually act together, such as those that flex adjacent fingers. Cramps are extremely common and almost everyone experiences a cramp at some time in their life.
